It is one of the trees associated with Saint Brighid, the Celtic patron of the arts, healing, and smithing.
Ancient bards called the rowan tree the tree of bards as they thought it brought the gift of inspiration. It is also sometimes called the traveler’s tree as it was thought to prevent travelers from getting lost.
